RCG signs agreement with Swiss MFD
Up to 600 additional container carrier wagons will help ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) to shift even more goods from road to rail.
The wagons will be supplied by the Swiss wagon hire company MFD. They were designed for use with the Mobiler configuration which, in combination with a hydraulic lifting system, allows to transfer goods between train and truck without a crane or siding.
RCG will use the innovative solution for transporting waste by rail. In 2023, the Austrian carrier already shifted over 200,000 t of waste to rail transport. In 2024, this number is expected to be significantly higher. The first 100 wagons have already arrived, and the next 100 vehicles are scheduled for delivery in 2024. (ben)
