Quay upgrade in Gothenburg
The Port of Gothenburg will commence a major infrastructure project at the Gothenburg Energy Port next year. A 300 m quay will undergo a comprehensive overhaul, dubbed “Kustkajen 2.0”, to modernise the facility and support Sweden's shift to renewable energy sources.
Peab, a Swedish construction firm, has been appointed to initiate the first phase. This development is pivotal for the port's strategy to become Scandinavia’s premier renewable energy hub. Despite the reconstruction, the port will maintain operational ship calls, though on a reduced scale.
Peab will start the feasibility study and project planning in the last quarter of Q4/2023, with construction expected to run from early 2026 to Q1/2031. (pb)
