Port of Kiel: award for lighting design
The façade of the shore power plant at Kiel's Ostseekai was awarded the German lighting design prize 2021 in the "projects with an artistic background" category. It was designed by BSP Architekten BDA and makes climate-neutral ship supply visible from afar.
The lighting design of the modern LED facade was created by team licht from Hamburg. Dirk Claus, developer of the shore power system and managing director of Port of Kiel: "The facade has literally created a highlight in Kiel. From next year, the shore power facilities will already provide 60% of the energy required by the incoming ships emission-free. Kiel is thus taking on a pioneering role." The Port of Kiel will be climate-neutral as of 2030. (cj)
