Playing cards instead of ammunition boxes
Panattoni is realising a tailor-made new building for Spielkartenfabrik Altenburg in the city of Altenburg in Thuringia (Germany). It is Europe’s oldest known designer and producer of playing cards and part of the Belgium-based playing cards manufacturer Cartamundi.
Spielkartenfabrik Altenburg is to take over the new property next spring. It is being developed on a brownfield site of about 77,500 sqm and will comprise around 17,500 sqm of production and storage space and roughly 2,700 sqm of office and social space when completed. The outdoor areas will be used for truck parking, among other things.
As part of the property revitalisation, the developer is carrying out a partial remediation of contaminated sites and potential contamination, as the site served as an ammunition storage area for the Red Army in the past. (ah)
