Petrochemicals delivered by direct fast train to Finland
Russia-based Transcontainer has organised the first direct fast block train with petrochemicals loaded in 114 specialised tank-containers. The train departed from Salavat in the Russian Republic of Bashkortostan heading for Kotka in Finland.
This service is a result of proactive cooperation between Transcontainer, SpecTransContainer, the group’s centre of competence for the development of transportation in specialised containers, and Gazprom.
After the maiden run, Transcontainer will despatch two or three trains to Finland every month, and their number will rise to four or five trains in future. Transcontainer expects to transport about 6,000 t of petrochemicals a month in a seamless round-trip to the Finnish port of Mussalo. (ben)
