Pennsylvania intermodal facility to be re-opened

The US railway Norfolk Southern is planning to create additional handling capacities by re-opening its intermodal facility in Greencastle PA (USA).

The railroad plans to phase in business gradually at the Franklin County regional intermodal facility from 10 September, starting with a lane of domestic intermodal traffic that currently moves between Norfolk Southern intermodal facilities in Memphis TN and Rutherford PA.

The Greencastle centre will provide additional terminal capacities and help improve service as demand for the railroad’s services continue to grow. Norfolk Southern opened its Greencastle facility in January 2013, to shift freight from the roads to the railways. (ben)
