No magic, just automation
Logistics provider Arvato is implementing a new robot item pick solution in Germany. The system, dubbed “Just Pick” was developed by the Polish robot specialist Nomagic. Arvato is testing the project at its 30,000 sqm distribution centre in Dortmund, where it provides services to several fashion clients.
Nomagic’s system will be used to pick item orders from the automated Autostore warehouse. Working with existing infrastructure, the solution maps the pick progress for order fulfillment and the returns replenishment process.
Thanks to a gripper tool changer, the suction and gripping tools on the “Just Pick” robot can be changed efficiently and quickly, minimising downtimes. If the pilot us successful, Arvato plans to roll out the solution in its ten Autostore systems worldwide. (mk)
