New terminal in Port Yarimca now operational
The finished-car logistics terminal in the Port of Yarimca, located in the suburbs of Istanbul, celebrated the official start of its operations recently, as it welcomed the first call of Japanese liner NYK's “Selene Leader”, a pure car and truck carrier (PCTC).
NYK participated in the building of the facility, which is Turkey's first terminal to be dedicated solely to finished cars. The terminal was first opened in November 2021 and is operated by a joint venture established by NYK and the port operating company of the Turkish Oyak Group.
The facility has a pier length of 539 m with a sea depth of between 12 and 14 m. It covers a yard area of about 180,000 sqm with parking slots for about 17,700 units. (sh)
