New locomotives for central and eastern Europe
Metrans, part of the German company Hamburger Hafen und Logistik, has ordered ten Vectron MS locomotives from Siemens in Czechia. The engines will be built in Germany and deliveries are scheduled from the end of 2019 until spring 2020.
The locomotives will be deployed in cross-border freight services in central and eastern European countries. They have a top speed of 160 km/h and are equipped with the required national train control systems as well as the European train control system (ETCS).
They are currently certified to operate in Austria, Czechia, Germany, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. (ben)
