New feeder link between Abu Dhabi and Kuwait
On 17 April 2023, "Safeen Pride" visited Shuwaikh Port in Kuwait for the first time. Part of the Safeen Feeders fleet, the container vessel has a total tonnage of 15,636 t, a carrying capacity of 16,855,210 t of deadweight, capable of transporting 1,374 teu.
The link between Abu Dhabi and Kuwait is an initiative of AD Ports Group, based in Abu Dhabi (UAE), a Gulf emirate which wants to improve connectivity and facilitate trade with Kuwait.
For H.E. Dr Matar Hamed Al Neyadi, Ambassador of the UAE to Kuwait, this new connection "will contribute to an enhanced exchange of trade between UAE and Kuwait". This is also the intention of AD Ports Group which aims to strengthen commercial connectivity, provide economies of scale and facilitate global trade movement through its flagship Khalifa Port. (lh)
