New connection between Norway and Italy
In cooperation with Kombiverkehr, the Norwegian Color Line has introduced a weekly direct railfreight link between the Norwegenkai in Kiel (Germany) and Verona in Italy. The train leaves Verona on the Thursday and arrives in Kiel on the Saturday.
At the Norwegenkai there is a direct connection to the ferries to Norway so that consignments arrive in Oslo on the Sunday. In the opposite direction, goods are loaded onto the vessel in Oslo on the Friday in order to arrive via Kiel by train in Verona on the Tuesday.
The ferry/rail link between Norway and Italy replaces a truck journey of more than 2,000 km and thus reduces the CO2 footprint by 50%. (ben)
