New Cometto for Fincantieri
Faymonville, a manufacturer of utility vehicles based in Luxembourg, has delivered a self-driving modular Cometto vehicle to the Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri. The SYT 4/2 trailer will be deployed in the Riva Trigoso shipyard near Genoa, where Fincantieri builds ships for the Italian navy.
With a loading capacity of 216 t, Cometto SYT 4/2 is designed for handling ship components during different parts of the production and assembly process. The modular vehicle is also equipped with an 84 sqm loading platform and two driver cabins.
Since Cometto and Fincantieri began their partnership in 1985, 18 self-driving vehicles of various configurations have been delivered. (mw)
