More Vectrons for Europe's railways
Beacon Rail has ordered ten Vectron MS multi-system locomotives from Siemens Mobility which are to be deployed along the Rhine-Alpine corridor and between the North Sea ports and the European hinterland. This order will give Beacon Rail an overall portfolio of 170 Vectron locomotives, the UK-based rolling stock lessor said.
The locomotives have a maximum power at wheel of 6.4 megawatts and a top speed of 160 km/h. They will be manufactured at the German plant in Munich-Allach and equipped with the European train control system ETCS Baseline 3 and the required national train control systems. The Vectron is approved for operation in 20 European countries. (ben)
