More fellowships for World Maritime University

The World Maritime University (WMU) in Malmö, Sweden, and the Grimaldi Foundation, Naples, recently signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) that includes a provision for two annual fellowships. They will serve for well-qualified applicants from emerging countries to enrol in the WMU master of science in maritime affairs programme.

The MoA was signed by Cleopatra Doumbia-Henry, president of WMU, and Emanuele Grimaldi, president and managing director of the Grimaldi Foundation.

The upcoming generation of graduates, which will also come from South American and West African countries, will be dealing with a wide range of topics in maritime shipping and ocean-related fields, such as the shortage of qualified logistics personnel, decarbonisation and maritime energy management, shipping logistics, port management, law and policy and other relevant issues.

The Grimaldi Foundation, which has a capital of EUR 24 million, has invested over EUR 12 million in social projects since its foundation, and has implemented 220 projects to date. (sh)
