More and longer trains in Port of Valencia
The railways are gaining more weight in the Spanish Port of Valencia. According to the port’s rail-port traffic data, 4,634 trains entered or left the Valencian docks in 2022, compared to 4,200 in 2021.
The average length of these trains was 495 m compared to 485 m in the previous year, while the number of wagons in 2022 rose to 87,070 compared to 76,563 in 2021, which represents an uptick of 15%.
The port authority expects this throughput to continue to increase, both in Valencia and in Sagunto. The upward trend follows many years of efforts to promote intermodal rail-sea options for goods transports. (ben)
