Merck strengthens life science presence
Merck recently opened a newly expanded distribution centre in Schnelldorf, Germany. Backed by EUR 180 million, the hub specialises in life sciences.
The science and technology company has enlarged the site by 25,000 sqm, adding almost double the space for a new manual down filing operation and a wider range of life science products. This combination of operations allows for increased product availability and shorter delivery times.
Part of a multi-year growth strategy, Merck is aiming to strengthen its presence in life science logistics. It already has over 100 production, testing and distribution hubs in 65 countries.
"With this expansion, Schnelldorf is becoming one of our flagship sites, providing unique end-to-end capabilities for our life science customers" said Ivan Donzelot, head of integrated supply chain operations, life science. (mk)
