Lüthi to be head of FOCBS

Pascal Lüthi has been appointed as the new director of the federal office of customs and border security FOCBS. He will take office in January 2024.

Lüthi has been commander of the Neuchâtel cantonal police since 2012. Before that, he was head of corporate security at Syngenta in Basel. His career also includes positions in the security sector at the federal department of defence, civil protection and sport and the state secretariat for economic affairs.

Lüthi is a physicist from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL) and gained his doctorate in natural sciences with a focus on computer science in 1998.

The Foca position had to be filled after the employment contract with Christian Bock had been terminated by mutual consent. The position had been advertised under the ordinary procedure. Until Lüthi takes up her post, Isabella Emmenegger will continue to manage the office as director ad interim. (ah)
