Launch of mega-truck service in Portugal
XPO Logistics has introduced a new mega-truck service in Portugal. The company's longer and heavier vehicle (LHV) will make dedicated deliveries for the Portuguese beverage company Sociedade Central de Cervejas from its brewery in Vialonga and its collection and bottling site for Luso water, in Vacariça, to the areas of Porto, Azambuja and the Algarve.
XPO’s new Portugal-based LHV is 25.25 m long and can haul a maximum load of 60 t. This type of truck is estimated to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 20%. XPO, which has a total of 15 LHVs in its transport fleet in Spain, is planning to increase the number of mega-truck routes in Spain and Portugal in 2019. (ben)
