KV to become ICE of freight trains
Hauliers and railways are pulling in the same direction: more than 230 hauliers are partnering with DG Cargo to shift more trucks onto the railways. The transport companies involved in Kombiverkehr and DB Cargo are focusing on the expansion of the joint network into a synchronised service. Digitalisation and automation will simplify and accelerate handling processes.
Deutsche Bahn and Kombiverkehr expect the improved links between goods trains and trucks to reduce CO2 emissions by around 50 million t over the next ten years. These goals are part of a cooperation agreement signed by the two companies yesterday, Monday, 29 March 2021. (ben)
