Keeping cool with CO2
CO2 refrigeration systems are part of a Singaporean cold chain company’s innovations in energy-efficient storage that simultaneously also reduces health and fire risks. Cold Chain Refrigeration is expanding by incorporating CO2 (R-744) technology into its operations, which has a low global warming potential in comparison to HFC, HCFCs and other refrigerants.
The systems operate at high pressure, with efficient heat transfer and waste heat recovery capabilities, and thus make for a sustainable and reliable cooling solution. In addition, CO2 also poses no health risks and is non-flammable under normal conditions. The company is hoping to reduce energy costs and offer safe and correct storage for temperature-sensitive items.
Cold Chain Refrigeration is installing a commercial cold room for a major food distribution company, where it is working with the innovated cold storage technology. (mk)
