Joy over second visit within a short time

After Linz Airport had to wait almost twenty years for the second visit of the Antonov AN-225, no one there would have thought that the third landing would take place just two months later, on 7 December 2021.

"Since the only three visits to Austria to date have been in Linz, and even airports such as Frankfurt, Munich, Paris (CDG) or London (LHR) have not welcomed this aircraft as often as we have, we in Upper Austria can be a little proud after all," the airport commented on social media.

After a detour via Istanbul and Almaty, the world's largest aircraft was back on display at Leipzig/Halle Airport on 12 December 2021. The German airport had welcomed the AN-225 for 30th time only a short time ago, on 30 November 2021 (see ITJ 49-52/2021, p. 14). This means that Leipzig/Halle is one of the airports most frequently visited by the AN-225. (ah)
