
Jebel Ali Port records highest volumes since 2015
DP World handled 15.5 million teu at Jebel Ali Port in 2024, marking its highest container throughput since 2015. This represents an increase of 1 million teu compared to the previous year and accounts for nearly 18% of DP World’s global container throughput, which totalled 88.3 million teu.
Breakbulk cargo also saw a 23% year-on-year increase, reaching 5.4 million t. Imports included wind turbines, solar panels, heavy machinery and construction materials, while exports mainly consisted of sugar, iron and steel. According to DP World new shipping services and growing trade from Asia and the Indian subcontinent contributed to growth.
The port’s container capacity stands at 19.4 million teu, with over 100 berths and dedicated terminals for breakbulk, ro-ro and heavylift cargo. (js)
