Innovation prize for Alstom engineer

For her contribution to eco-friendly transport industrial engineer Saskia Schulz has won the “innovation prize for mobility designers 2019” awarded by the Allianz pro Schiene. With her team, the Alstom employee developed a concept for the world’s first hydrogen filling station for trains, which shall come on stream in Bremerförde (Lower Saxony, Germany) in December 2021.

A prize for the “best idea” goes to Silke Höhl from Frankfurt am Main, whose inspiration could pave the way for eco-friendly parcel deliveries within city centres. Her approach suggests replacing truck journeys by transporting the parcels by means of underground railways, suburban railways and cargo-carrying bicycles.

With the innovation prize for mobility designers, which is awarded once a year, the non-profit transport association Allianz pro Schiene honours women who use their imagination and ingenuity to rethink and redesign mobility concepts. (mw)
