HGK Shipping and Salzgitter Group join forces
HGK Shipping and Salzgitter Group have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to enhance sustainable logistics on waterways.
The partnership focuses on efficient transport, minimising emissions, and optimising cargo space. Salzgitter Flachstahl and Deumu, subsidiaries of Salzgitter, will collaborate with HGK Shipping to expand environmentally friendly shipping practices. The initiative aims to boost paired transport, reduce empty journeys, and harness inland shipping's sustainability.
Both companies plan to integrate this approach into their supply chains, contributing to the circular economy. The partnership also includes participation in the Seafar pilot project for semi-autonomous inland shipping, showcasing commitment to technological advancements. (pb)
