Hermes and DPD stop joint venture
Hermes Germany and DPD Deutschland have decided not to prolong the operations of Parcel Lock, a joint company that was created to develop IT solutions for locker systems. The operational activities of the joint venture, which started in 2016, will be terminated in the course of 2022.
Parcel Lock integrated the open-ended locker systems into multi-family and single-family homes or, for example, carried out tests at public transport stops as part of the Hamburg Box pilot project, which expires at the end of February 2022. In the end, both the number of users and the market development of the Parcel Lock project fell short of expectations.
The investments will be abandoned during the ongoing settlement process and the associated closure of Parcel Lock. (sh)
