Hector Rail tests rear-view camera up north
Shunting is an integral part of Hector Rail's railfreight operations. It is now looking to test the rear-view camera of IT specialist Railway Metrics and Dynamics (RMD).
The purpose of the trial is to evaluate how the camera can eliminate dangerous tasks, such as when shunting personnel stand on the last footboard during reversing, and to assess the economic benefits of faster, more efficient, and less personnel-intensive shunting work.
The test began earlier this month and will continue through March 2025. Founded in 2004 and headquartered in Sweden, Hector Rail handles freight transport in Scandinavia and Germany. (ben)
