Heavy vehicle charge temporarily lifted
Switzerland’s federal office for customs and border security (FOCBS) is waiving the requirement for a motorway charge sticker for all vehicles transporting Ukrainian refugees or relief supplies for Ukraine.
Moreover, aid transports can be exempted from the performance-related heavy vehicle charge (HVC). The measure is effective immediately and will initially be in force until 30 June 2022.
Based on article 3 paragraph 2 of the regulation governing the HVC - Schwerverkehrsabgabeverordnung (SVAV) - the federal office for customs and border security may exempt aid transports from the heavy vehicle charge. A corresponding application should be submitted in advance to the FOCBS, the federal office said. (ben)
