Green light for Stockholm Norvik
The Stockholm Norvik port has achieved comprehensive status within the EU's trans-European transport network (TEN-T), following a recent proposal for an agreement. This change in status is part of the revised TEN-T regulation, which is expected to come into effect in April 2024 and also impacts several other Baltic Sea ports.
This designation enables the ports of Stockholm to apply for EU funding to enhance infrastructure and services at the Stockholm Norvik port, boosting its potential as a sustainable transport junction and a major energy hub. The new label will also help the port to promote growth, create jobs, and encourage sustainable operations.
As part of the EU's efficient and green mobility package, the TEN-T regulation aims to increase rail, local shipping, and inland waterway transport, and to improve multimodal transport infrastructure connecting various hubs, including ports, airports, and terminals, to create a more sustainable transport system by 2050.
