"Grande Texas" sets sail
A PCTC (pure car & truck carrier) is the second newbuild to enter the fleet of the Neapolitan Group Grimaldi in 2021.
The “Grande Texas”, the sixth of a series of seven car carrier units commissioned from the Chinese shipyard Yangfan located in Zhoushan, is almost 200 m long, 36.45 m wide, has a gross tonnage of 65,255 t and a service speed of 19 knots.
The vessel, which flies the Italian flag, can transport around 7,600 ceu (car equivalent units) or alternatively 5,400 linear meters of rolling stock and 2,737 ceu.
Starting in March, the “Grande Texas” will enhance the weekly ro-ro connection operated by the Grimaldi Group between the Mediterranean and North America. (cd)
