Good news for truckies around Sydney

Truck drivers in Australia travelling across Sydney will soon be able to stop at the city’s first-heavy vehicle rest area.

The Australian and NSW governments has identified a 6 ha piece of land located close to a key junction of the motorway network in western Sidney. The greenfield will now be transformed into a purpose-built rest stop and will now, according to the government, deliver a much-needed rest area for truck drivers between Pheasants Nest to the south of Sydney and Wyong to the north – a distance of 180 km.

The facility will be of particular benefit to drivers hauling freight through Sydney between Victoria and Queensland, providing space for a range of heavy vehicles, including oversized consignments. (ben)
