From preighters to authentic freighters

With the arrival of the first two A330F expected next month, Charleroi-based Air Belgium announces a big step into the cargo business.

Two more full freighters of the same type are expected to be delivered shortly. These four aircraft are the last A330F deployed by Qatar Airways. They were taken out of service when the airline transferred to a purely Boeing freighter fleet (two B747-8F and 24 B777F plus two more which are expected for March and April). Air Belgium hopes to base six full freighters in Liège airport by the end of the year.

CEO Niky Terzakis: "We are delighted to be able to begin this diversification into the commercial and cargo sector, which my team and I know well. This will complement our existing passenger business which has been severely impacted by the current travel restrictions." (ah)
