Freight wagon market to grow globally by 2.6% p.a.
North America, the CIS and Asia are currently the largest markets for the OEM (original equipment manufacturer) freight wagon business. Europe follows in fourth place.
North America is the only one of these regions not to have achieved growth in the past five years (2018-2023), while the OEM business in Asia, the CIS and Europe has shown an upward trend.
The European market recorded the highest growth rate, mainly due to very high delivery levels and rising purchase prices.
SCI forecasts an annual global growth rate of 2.6%, with markets in Asia and the CIS continuing to expand until 2028. North America will return to growth, while there will be a decline in the OEM market in Europe, the study said. (ben)
