For new technology in the air

Lufthansa Cargo and Kuehne + Nagel have jointly taken a practical step to implement the use of power-to-liquid technology in aviation. On 14 April, the Lufthansa Cargo freighter with the identification D-ALFK took off for the first time under flight number LH8406 in the direction of Seoul (ICN), South Korea, carrying a new flight-ready label.

With the inscription ‘Flying into the Future – CO2-neutral’ and the addition ‘Power-to-Liquid Sustainable Aviation Fuel,’ the partner companies are drawing attention to their joint mission. The companies, which are jointly committed to the decarbonisation of airfreight, agreed on an exclusive partnership at the end of last year.

The logistics service providers have jointly pledged to support the world's first production site for synthetic crude oil in Werlte/Emsland in Germany by purchasing the equivalent of 20 t, or 25,000 l, annually. (sh)
