Food distributor giant goes electric
Sysco, Canada’s largest food distributor, has added a further eight heavy-duty electric tractors to its fleet in Victoria, BC (Canada). The new vehicles will serve over 1,500 customers including restaurants, healthcare and education customers.
In total, Sysco now has over 130 heavy-duty electric tractors in service in the USA, Canada, UK and Sweden. This latest investment is part of its larger sustainability commitment which aims to reduce scope 1 and 2 emissions by 27.5% by 2030, the company said.
Sysco operates 340 distribution facilities worldwide and serves 730,000 customer locations. For fiscal year 2024 that ended 29 June 2024, the company generated sales of more than USD 78 billion. (ben)
