Flying contraband in and out of Mexico
US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers working at the Dallas/Fort Worth port of entry seized a shipment of counterfeit footwear including several pairs of limited edition basketball shoes that retailers sell for USD 2,000 per pair.
The shipment consisting of 60 boxes valued at over USD 4.3 million included over 1,800 pair of counterfeit Limited Edition "Dior X Air Jordan 1" shoes arrived from Hong Kong. They were labelled as "Ball Golf" and destined for Mexico.
Another recent illegal shipment was observed at the Calexico border section. It consisted of an ultralight aircraft smuggling attempt of 68.6 kg of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of USD 340,312. The incident occurred in the night, when border patrol agents intercepted an ultralight aircraft flying at a low altitude. (ah)
