Fleet transformation underway
The Genoa (Italy)-based shipping group Ignazio Messina is restructuring its fleet after selling off its con-ro units. Two new acquisitions mark the switch to 'full container' units.
The company recently took delivery of the first vessel in the South Korean port of Busan. The former ‘Northern Promotion’, now called ‘Jolly Argento’, has a capacity of 4,600 teu. It was built in the wharf of Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering.
Its sister vessel ‘Northern Priority’, which will be renamed ‘Jolly Oro’, will start its maiden voyage in September this year. (pb)
