Fishing industry to receive better rail service
Onrail is modernising its fleet by adding two new and powerful hybrid locomotives from the end of 2022: the Norwegian private railfreight operator has signed a long-term full-service lease agreement for two innovative Euro Dual locomotives with European Loc Pool (ELP).
The locomotives will be used on the line from Fauske to Oslo in Norway, which is only partially electrified and thus ideally suited for hybrid operations.
The new train service will run along the Nordland railway line, Norway‘s longest route, starting from Bodo and reaching Trondheim. The route’s total length between Fauske and Oslo is 1,217 km. With this new initiative, Onrail hopes to attract customers in the growing fish shipping industry. (ben)
