Ferruccio Bianchi becomes RailCom member
The Swiss government has appointed Ferruccio Bianchi as a new member of the national rail transport commission (RailCom) for the current term, until 2027.
Bianchi, an engineer with extensive experience in the railway sector, worked for the Swiss national railway SBB’s passenger transport unit for 20 years, where he led heavy maintenance and asset management, before retiring in 2024. His expertise strengthens RailCom’s technical capabilities.
RailCom is responsible for ensuring non-discriminatory access to the Swiss rail network and intermodal facilities co-financed by the government. It also oversees fair competition in railfreight services and monitors infrastructure investment planning.
With Bianchi’s appointment, RailCom now consists of president Barbara Furrer, vice-president Markus Kern and members Cesare Brand, Anna Ciaranfi Zanetta and Manfred Haller. (ah)
