Fedex partners for long-range drones
Fedex Express has agreed with Silicon Valley-based Elroy Air to develop an autonomous drone. The purpose of the cooperation is to test Elroy Air's autonomous air cargo system within Fedex' logistics operations in USA.
In a press release, Fedex said that the exponential growth of e-commerce has accelerated the demand for "reliable, efficient transportation and logistics solutions throughout all stages of the supply chain."
The Chaparral aircraft in question is an eVTOL aerial cargo system that can autonomously pick up 136-227 kg of cargo and deliver it by air up to 480 km. (sh)
