Faster delivery
After a record year for Germany‘s courier, express and parcel service industry with an estimated volume of more than 4 million parcels delivered across the country, providers are now considering how to further optimise their parcel delivery services for their customers.
To this end, Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge has selected a number of partners, including Hermes, to help support the parcel deliverers with innovative assistance systems for the Volkswagen Transporter and Volkswagen Crafter delivery vans.
A pilot project with the Munich-based start-up Viscopic has now been launched in Bavaria. This company’s software solution first learns the local routes and then puts the parcels for the next delivery into a logical loading sequence, so that the driver does not have to waste time searching and sorting the cargo en route.
