Expanding intermodal capacity in UK
US manufacturer Greenbrier has delivered the last of 150 wagons to leasing company Porterbrook in UK, which has ordered the batch for GB Railfreight. The UK carrier will use the new rolling stock for the movement of construction materials for High Speed 2 from the Peak District to Birmingham.
The delivered wagons include 100 new intermodal wagons and 50 new JNA-X Box Wagons. The new FEA-G intermodal high-density twin wagons can carry six teu on each service, significantly increasing the volume of cargo that can be transported on each journey and will encourage the modal shift from road to rail, the three partners said in a joint release.
