Evergreen jacks up its profit
Evergreen Marine Corp. has published its results for Q2/2019. The Taipeh (Taiwan)-headquartered carrier announced a jump in gross profit of almost NTD 3.7 billion (USD 118 million). In the same period of 2018, the gross result was just about in the black at NTD 109 million (USD 3.5 million).
Yet, Evergreen reported an overall loss of about NTD 447.5 million (USD 14.3 million) in the same period, down from a loss of NTD 1.8 billion (USD 57.4 million) in Q2/2018. The shipping company also generated an operating revenue of NTD 47.1 billion (USD 1.5 billion) in the second quarter of 2019 (Q2/2018 NTD 38.3 billion).
The company also said that it planned to add vessels with a capacity of up to 23,000 teu to its fleet. (cd)
