Euro 9000 now in operation in Switzerland
Leasing company European Loc Pool (ELP) has received the approval to operate the Euro 9000 locomotive in Switzerland. Starting immediately, the locomotives will be deployed on multiple rail routes in the country. With its partner, Stadler Rail Services, ELP has already set up a nationwide network of services.
Compared to conventional four-axle locomotives, the Euro 9000 offers up to 50% more traction and power. With 1.9 MW in diesel mode and up to 9 MW under overhead lines, this model is indispensable for the future of Europe’s railfreight sector. Further approvals are expected in Belgium, the Netherlands and Italy. (ben)
