EU bans Russian and Belarusian trucks and vessels
In light of Russia’s continuing war of aggression against Ukraine, the European Council has adopted a fifth package of sanctions against Russia. The package will prevent Russian vessels and trucks from accessing the EU.
In detail, the package includes, inter alia, a ban on Russian and Belarusian road haulage undertakings preventing them from transporting goods by road within the EU, including in transit; a prohibition to provide access to EU ports to vessels registered under the Russian flag. Derogations are granted for agricultural and food products, humanitarian aid and energy. The package includes export bans for various other goods as well. (ben)
