Espo: Zeno D’Agostino takes the helm

The Verona-born Zeno D’Agostino, who heads the port of Trieste, has been appointed chairman of Espo, the European Sea Ports Organisation. The representatives from the Organisation’s 23 member countries elected him unanimously during the general meeting that took place in Brussels.

D’Agostino succeeds the previous chairwoman, Finland's Annaleena Mäkilä, and will be assisted by two vice-presidents, Belgium's Daan Schalck, who heads 'North Sea Port', which combines the ports of Ghent and Zeeland, and Latvia's Ansis Zeltiņš, who heads the port of Riga.

A manager whose core expertise is in logistics, D’Agostino has led the port of Trieste since 2015. He has also served as the chairman of Assoporti, the Association of Italian Ports, and as the secretary general of the Naples Port Authority. (cj)
