ERS Railways generates growth spurt at Hupac
The Swiss combined transport operator Hupac generated a 21.4 % rise in traffic volumes and carried a total of 926,414 road consignments or 1,720.000 teu in 2018. Non-transalpine traffic grew by 38 %. The increase of 98,000 road consignments is almost entirely due to the volumes moved by ERS Railways, which was integrated into the Hupac Group in June 2018 and contributed about 92,000 road consignments to the overall total.
Transalpine traffic through Switzerland also reported a very satisfactory year, with an increase of 14.4 % or 67,000 additional road consignments that were transferred to the railways. Hupac expects demand for transport services to stabilise in 2019. (ben)
