Equal rules for Swiss and EU drivers
The Swiss Federal Council has amended the ordinance governing the working hours and driving and rest times for professional drivers, thus adapting Swiss regulations to EU legislation.
Most of the changes will come into force on 1 January 2022. They mainly concern new possibilities for obtaining rest periods in cross-border traffic and deviating from driving times in exceptional situations.
The Swiss government says that the amendments will provide legal certainty and equal rules for cross-border transport. They will also improve drivers' working conditions. (ben)
