Easter week to pack a punch
DHL has some busy weeks ahead with the upcoming Easter season and the introduction of a new vending system for parcels. In collaboration with One Stop Box, Automations-Lösung, a subsidiary of the DHL Group, has launched new vending machines that are open to all parcel service providers.
The machines have an IT system with intelligent capacity control. Parcel service providers and retailers can therefore deposit their parcels there for customers to pick them up around the clock. As a first step, around 100 machines will be rolled out in 2024, primarily in larger German cities, with more to follow next year.
Added to this is the busy Easter season, during which DHL is preparing to process 9 million parcels in Germany. Thanks to the growing e-commerce business, the volume of shipments is increasing every year. The consignments include garden equipment, seeds, and plants as well as smaller decorative items. (mk)
