E-truck passes acid test in extreme heat

Mercedes-Benz Trucks has completed a five-week trial of the battery-electric eActros 600 for long-distance haulage in Andalusia at high temperatures of up to 44° Celsius.

Testing ranged from the performance of the electric powertrain and battery thermal management to measurements during charging processes at rapid charging stations.

After the tests, a prototype also completed the over 2,000 km return journey from Granada (Spain) to the manufacturer’s centre in Wörth am Rhein, Germany, on its own wheels.

The vehicle is scheduled to be ready for series production in 2024. The trial in Spain followed a test in Finland in freezing cold temperatures down to minus 25° Celsius last winter. (ben)
