Duisport holds its course in difficult conditions
Despite a cooling economic climate, the duisport group reported a turnover of EUR 278.6 million in FY 2018, up 11.6% or EUR 28.9 million compared to the EUR 249.7 million generated in 2017. The operative result (ebitda) grew by 4.9% (from EUR 40.5 to EUR 42.5 million).
Total throughput including cargo handling at the private industrial ports was 127.5 million t (2017: 130.6 million t), a decrease of 3%. The period of low water levels reduced the amount of bulk cargo carried.
Container throughput, which, with a 55% share of the total business, is duisport’s most important segment, was 4.1 million teu, matching the record level of the previous year. Up to 30% of the total railfreight transported between China and Europe is already channelled through the port of Duisburg. (kd)
